We've been taking three of our cars to Ward's since they were recommended to us in 1992 in Pasadena. When they moved to Monrovia, we followed them even though there are now dozens of repair shops closer to our home. We have referred friends to Ward's Service, and our daughter who is now an adult has sent her friends to them. We have met three generations of the Ward family, and have found them to be hardworking, honest, helpful, friendly, and fair. Ward Service has accurately diagnosed and fixed numerous problems for us over the years. They have saved us money by telling us of items that were still under warranty if we wanted to take the car to the dealership. They have been observant enough to notice sounds we didn't hear, and caring enough to look into it. That awareness saved us significant money once when we took a car in for an ordinary oil change and they discovered a big problem that was within a couple weeks of having an expired warranty! Other examples of why we love them. My husband had problems replacing a light bulb in a rear light one time. He couldn't get it in so took it to Ward's shop and they popped it in for him at no charge even though he bought the bulb somewhere else. Our daughter's car was towed to a distant station a few years ago and she didn't understand what they wanted to do to fix it and whether the charges were appropriate. She called Jim for help and he offered to call the station and talk to them for her, free of charge. Before doing extended trips, we always take the car into Ward Service for a checkup; usually all is well and nothing needs to be done, but occasionally they discover a problem that we're very glad they noticed. My vehicle broke down while driving from San Luis Obispo to Riverside late afternoon on a Friday and Ward's stayed open late and waited till I was able to find a ride. I absolutely have my go to place for smog checks, repairs, or any type of auto needs with my car. Today was my second experience with Ward Service Auto Repair in Monrovia. I arrived with my 18 month old son for a smog check. Terry was friendly and sweet towards my son. Once she learned that he loves cars, she said he could play with anything in the waiting room with the exception of the antique item kept out of reach. He had a blast in their waiting room, which has toys, seating, a TV and a large area for my son to run around in. From then on, Terry brought all paperwork in to me instead of having me return to the counter because she was concerned about the noise level of the repairs and the fumes for my son. I greatly appreciated that! Then she even had the car pulled out to a more convenient spot so that he wouldn't be exposed again. Very thoughtful! -Kristine R.

We've been using Wards service for over 15 years now, if that doesn't tell you how good they are, I'd like to add that we drove 240 mile round trip to Wards at truck service times when we moved to Eastern Mojave Desert for 12 of those years. We've never had any problem with any of their work on either of our vehicles. Recently my husband was diagnosed with cancer and at when the cars needed to be serviced. The guys at Wards came to our home to get the trucks, serviced them, and brought them back to our home; I never had to leave my husbands side. Jim even popped in and wished my husband some nice words which made my husbands day. He took the truck and got it washed after dirty desert roads from moving back here, encrusted it with filth.  Once I thought I heard the windshield making noises like it was loose and he drove with me until we heard the strange sound. What other auto service would have the patience to do that? Ward's people treat their customers like family. -Claudia B. 

I have been a customer at Ward Service for over twenty years and am very happy with their service. It is a family owned and run business and they will bend over backwards to keep their customers happy.  My only criticism is that by mid morning, the free coffee is way past it's prime! -Dave T.

My wife and I have been taking our cars to Ward Service since we moved to Southern California and have received great service for over 20 years now. Back when we drove older cars, Wards kept them safely running and offered good advice when we asked if it was worth it to keep something going or if it was time to get a new car. Now that we have new cars, Wards maintains them well and keeps an eye out for problems. When Ward's says something needs to be done, I completely trust that it's necessary and will be done at a fair price.
Look, I'm sure you can find a cheaper auto shop, but when you consider the quality of work, the friendly and accommodating staff, and peace of mind knowing your car was serviced correctly; Wards Service is a very good deal. -Robert O.

Ward Service just saved my day last week. I had a trunk full of stuff just begging to be released.  The emergency blanket I always carry accidentally got pushed into the locking mechanism and no matter how hard I pushed, pulled or yanked I could not get it open. Thanks guys for keeping my car on the road! I have a 67 GTO convertible which they put new exhaust manifolds on. I have also taken my 66 Ambassador convertible which Carl has tuned to perfection several times. And my lovely Focus SVT which Jim hates because the clutch was a major pain for him and majorly expensive for me. Finding a shop that will even work on these type of vehicles is a challenge. Ward Service does not provide cheap service, but to this day they've done a good job for me. -J.C.

I have been bringing my cars to Ward service for over 10 years.  The owner, Jim, is so friendly and nice.  I have had great customer service over the years, they are like a family because they are good about remembering my name before I even tell them and asking how my husband and kids are doing.  Even more than that, they are honest.  They make it a point to tell me when things are still under warranty and if I should take it to the dealer to be fixed.  They let me know if I need to have something done right away or if I can wait until next time if my finances are tight.  They have recommended body shops or tire shops when I needed them. They are good about finish ing their work as promised in a timely manner and will call me to give me an update on what is happening.  We only bring our cars to Ward service. -Grace D.
